Mehbooba Mufti meets PM Modi; stresses upon finding ways to end violence in JK

New Delhi, April 10: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday and discussed the overall situation of the valley. During the meeting, CM Mufti also stressed upon finding ways to end the violence.

 

During the meeting, CM Mehbooba Mufti apprised Prime Minister Modi with the current situation of Jammu and Kashmir. CM Mufti also briefed PM Modi on the security situation in the Valley as well as along the border with Pakistan, which has been witnessing heavy cross-border firing and continuous attempts of infiltration by terrorists. She also stressed upon finding ways to end the violence.

An official spokesperson from Jammu and Kashmir government said, “The Chief Minister stressed on finding ways and means to end the cycle of violence in the state by addressing the element of alienation among the youth.” The spokesperson further said that CM Mufti asserted the need for peaceful engagement with all stakeholders.

The Chief Minister also pleaded for the push to cross LoC movement. She suggested the opening of more historic routes across the LoC and movement of more people to build public confidence. She also called for the development of Sharda Peth, an ancient seat of learning across the LoC, like Nalanda and Takshila.

Before meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, JK CM Mehbooba Mufti met Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and highlighted the need for adopting a humane approach while dealing with the situations and avoiding collateral damage during security operations.
