Nagpur, Apr 24: The society is plagued with so many ills because it ceased to follow the ideals of Sri Rama. Once the magnificent Ram Temple is constructed at the Ayodhya, the birthplace of Sri Rama, we will strive to awaken the society to follow the ideals of Sri Rama in order rid it from the social evils of the present time, said newly elected Vishwa Hindu Parisahd (VHP) International President Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje.

A former judge of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan High Courts and former Governor of Himachal Pradesh, V S Kokje was elected to the top post of VHP replacing Dr Pravin Togadia. He was in Nagpur along with his new team that included Working President Alok Kumar, General Secretary Milind Parande, Organising Secretary Vinayak Deshpande, Media incharge Surendra Kumar Jain, and former office-bearers Champat Rai and Dinesh Chandra.

In a short function organised at Ahilya Mandir on Wednesday, Kokje said that the atmosphere in the country is becoming favourable for the construction of the Ram Temple at Ayodhya. “We are confident and hopeful that all the hurdles in way of this will be removed soon paving the way for a grand temple at Ayodhya.

Once, the temple is built, we can concentrate all our energy towards removing the social ills, urging people to follow the ideals of Sri Rama and make India a great country, Kokje said.

VHP Working President Alok Kumar said that VHP has to work on various fronts viz. social awareness, stopping conversions, removing differences in the name of caste, languages etc. but our priority was to accomplishing the long cherished dream of constructing a grand temple of Sri Rama at his birthplace in Ayodhya.

He said that they visited the ‘samadhi’ of RSS founder Dr K B Hedgewar and his predecessor Golwalkar ‘Guruji’ after assuming their responsibilities in the VHP. “Nagpur is our Kashi”, said VHP President Kokje adding that they will be visiting Nagpur frequently to draw inspiration for their mission.

Recalling the earlier struggles for Ram Temple, he said they have taken up the responsibility of VHP at a time when the atmosphere at home is turning in favour of Ram Temple and hopefully, the wish of millions of Hindus will be fulfilled soon, he said.

RSS Vidarbha Prant Sanghchalak Ram Harkare presided over the function. Earlier, the newly elected VHP Office bearers were felicitated by representatives of various social organisations including Rashtriya Sikh Sangat, Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Hindustan Samachar, ICCS, News Bharati, Kalgidhar Satsang Mandal, Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation etc.
