CM Vijay Rupani to dedicate PNG subsidy scheme on May 1

Gandhinagar, April 27: Marking the occasion of 58th Gujarat foundation on May 1, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani is all set to dedicate the much anticipated PNG subsidy scheme in Bharuch. Taking a cue from Centre’s path-breaking Ujjwala scheme, the state government will provide a subsidy for PNG (Piped Natural Gas) connection.

As reported by DNA, the flagship programme will be implemented in eight municipal corporations and 25 districts. The scheme will mainly focus on BPL families in urban areas. With the budgetary provision of Rs 71.94 crore, the state government has proposed subsidy of Rs 1,600 for scheme beneficiaries. Gujarat has18 lakh registered PNG consumers. Nitin Patil who heads Gujarat Gas is looking after the rollout of PNG subsidy scheme.
