Arun Jaitley to be the leader of Rajya Sabha yet again

New Delhi, April 4: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar has announced the appointment of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley as the leader of the Rajya Sabha.

 

The 65-years old Union Minister had recently been re-elected as the Rajya Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh. Also, Jaitley is yet to take the oath as the Rajya Sabha member, while 41 Rajya Sabha members have taken their oath. PM Modi has backed Jaitley's appointment.

Rajya Sabha Chairman, M Venkaiah Naidu said he has received a letter from Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar stating that the prime minister has appointed Jaitley as the Leader of the Rajya Sabha.

He said Jaitley was the Leader of the House but his term expired and on re-election he has again been appointed as the Leader of the House.

In June, 2014, Jaitley was apppointed leader of the House in Rajya Sabha.Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the Leader of the House in Lok Sabha.
