Kabul, May 12: At least 53 policemen were killed while many others were injured after the Talibani terrorists attacked multiple bases of Afghan security forces on Friday. All the terrorists were eliminated following the counterterrorism operation led by Afghan security forces.

The first attack took place at Afghan bases in the western province of Farah, killing more than 30 policemen after the terrorists stepped up their offensive in a region with vital opium smuggling routes into neighbouring Iran.

While another attack took place at Farah city in Balabuluk district after the Talibani terrorists stormed a police base killing at least 23 and wounding three. However, after the attacks, Afghan security forces eliminated all the terrorists after a fierce encounter. Immediately after the multiple attacks, a Pakistan-born terror organization Taliban claimed the responsibility of the attack.

Importantly, the attack on Aghan policemen comes a week after multiple bomb blasts that took place in Kabul. In this deadly attack, at least 40 people including ten journalists and 11 children were killed and 60 others were wounded. The attack was claimed by the most dangerous terrorist organization Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

The attacks have multiplied in recent days as parliamentary and district council elections scheduled for October 20 this year. Last month on the occasion of Persian New Year, a suicide bomber killed at least 26 people in Afghanistan.
