Moscow, June 18: As the game gets interesting, the Russian Fifa World Cup till now saw interesting teams coming out strong and making their way to the finals. In the latest, England battled to victory over Tunisia with a fantastic 2-1 in a Group G fixture of the FIFA World Cup in Volgograd, Russia.

 

The spotlight is all on the English captain Harry Kane who scored twice including a late winner to help England earn its glorious triumph against the North African country. England made a deserved breakthrough in the 11th minute through Kane. Tunisia who had been outplayed for the first half-hour pulled level in the 35th minute as their midfielder Ferjani Sassi scored a goal after Kyle Walker elbowed Fakhreddine Ben Youssef in the box.

However, Kane, England's youngest World Cup captain ever at 24, scored his second goal of the day in stoppage time (in the 91st minute) through a corner, lifting England to a 2-1 win. England, who had the edge right from the beginning of the match, have the three crucial points to keep them close to Belgium.

While England got through Tunisia, Sweden defeated South Korea 1-0 in the World Cup Group F match Sweden captain Andreas Granqvist scored the penalty kick in the 65th minute to give his team its first World Cup opening match win since 1958, when they advanced to the final.

The match at Nizhny Novgorod Stadium saw Sweden missing a clear chance in the 20th minute as they controlled the pace throughout the first half. After the conceding the penalty, South Korea was dynamic but failed to equalize. South Korea suffered their first defeat in its fifth World Cup opening match.

However in the upcoming matches, England will cross swords with Panama in their next Group G game on Sunday. Three games are slated for today. In the two Group H encounters, Colombia will face Japan at 5.30 p.m. at Saransk while Poland are pitted against Senegal at 8.30 p.m. in Moscow. In the third game, hosts Russia will play against Egypt at 11.30 p.m. at Saint Petersburg.
