Terming Yoga as a journey from “me” to “we”, PM Modi urges people across the world to perform yoga to stay fit

New Delhi, June 19: Terming Yoga as an ancient gift by Indian sages to humankind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the people of the country to perform yoga and stay fit. Sharing a video for the upcoming 4th International Yoga Day, PM Modi expressed happiness over the rising popularity of Yoga all over the world.

In his message, PM Modi said that Yoga was not just a set of exercises to keep the body fit but a passport to health assurance, a key to fitness and wellness. He remarked saying, “Free from illness, a path to wellness; that is the path of Yoga as it makes us better individuals in thought, action, knowledge, and devotion.” Adding that Yoga brought about oneness among the mind, body, and intellect, he said, “Yoga is the journey from me to we.”


Referring Yoga as a solution, PM Modi coined it as a solution to ailments like stress and lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and depression. PM Modi further asserted saying that Yoga goes beyond boundaries of age, gender, caste, creed, religion, and nations. By saying this he emphasized on the term that yoga does not come on discrimination lines.

Stating that Yoga ensured peace of mind, PM Modi pronounced, “People who are at peace with themselves are at peace with others too. Such people build harmonious nations. Such nations build a harmonious world.”

PM Narendra Modi said that with more people embracing Yoga, the demand for Yoga teachers was rising and hence, the next challenge was to produce institutionally trained Yoga teachers and further the reach of Yoga, especially among the youth.

“Yoga brings the world close together”

In a remarkable move of taking Yoga on an upscale, various embassies have inculcated the initiative to give an assent to the meditation fitness marking the 4th International Yoga Day. In Australia, yoga session was organized at the Federal Parliament by High Commission of India in association with Vasudeva Kriya Yoga on 18th June 2018. Former Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. Tony Abbott graced the event with his auspicious presence.

Apart from Australia, the yoga wave has been swaying in other different countries like China, Nepal, Netherlands, France, and Poland.

Bending it like a Yogi, Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a special gesture organized a yoga session for the upcoming International Yoga Day. SCO Secretary General Rashid Alimov & Ambassador Shri Gautam Bambawale performed the Common Yoga Protocol together w/ yoga lovers from SCO countries.

Apart from that there were sessions of yoga in the temples of the China Province. the Indian Embassy in China also hailed a special yoga session marking the 4th International Yoga Day.


India’s neighboring country Nepal also took Yoga to newer heights by attempting a special session with the monks and locals at Muktinath Temple, at 12500 feet.
