Flourishing the cultural beauty of India, ‘Adopt a Heritage’ Scheme rightly promotes responsible tourism

New Delhi, June 20: Protecting the cultural diversity of the country, various monuments and cultural inscriptions have been thoroughly promoted to enhance the traditional roots of India. With inking 3 MoUs and 6 at an advanced stage under ‘Adopt a Heritage’ Scheme, the Culture Ministry said that the scheme is making good progress.

The scheme inherited by the Ministry of Culture, Archaeological Survey of India and Ministry of Tourism came together to bring out the ‘Adopt the Heritage Scheme’ and have been doing this in accordance to promote tourism in the country. Refuting to the media reports on Adopt a Heritage’ Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) pertaining to Red Fort being ‘put on hold’, the ministry clarified and said that the scheme is on the right track making progress.

With 31 more Adarsh monuments coming under the coverage, the project aims to develop collaboration among all partners to effectively promote “responsible tourism”.

The aim of the scheme is to make the all the public sector, private sector and all individuals come together and promote the heritage and tourism through sustainable development. The project basically focuses on providing basic amenities to the public through cleanliness, sanitation, taking proper care through ease of access to differently abled and senior citizens, night viewing facility, tourism facilitation center and an enhanced tourism experience

The Adopt a Heritage project has been very encouraging as the agencies that have come forward for adoption includes not only public and private industry and individuals but also schools and law firms.
