The veteran spiritual leader took to Twitter and said that shutting of indigenous industries would disturb the financial health of the country. “Lynching large businesses is economic suicide”, Sadhguru mentioned. Underlining the importance of copper production, Vasudev observed, “If we don't produce our own, of course, we will buy from China”.
Commenting on the violence that was irrupted during the agitations against the Sterlite factory in Tuticorin, Sadhguru suggested that ecological violations raised by activist should have dealt with legal arms. Later anticipating the ruck over his comments, Sadhguru urged people to refrain from politicizing the sensitive matter.
“I am not in support of #Sterlite or any other industry or political party. Address environmental violations legally. Burning public property or closing down businesses is not in national interest. Do not politicise,” he twitted.

Earlier, acclaimed Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev on Monday openly backed Vedanta group and condemned the closure of Sterlite factory in Tuticorin. “Industries are the temples of development for the nation. They should not be closed”, said Ramdev.

On the other hand, reacting to the concerns aired by the prominent personalities, Tamil Nadu D Jayakumar asked people not to get influenced by the spiritual leaders. He reiterated that controversial Sterlite plant in Tuticorin is permanently closed.
On May 22, near about Thirteen people were killed in the police firing during the protest against the Vedanta group's Sterlite Copper plant in Tuticorin. Anticipating the law and order problem, the state government had ordered the complete closure of Vedanta’s Sterlite plant in Tuticorin. Several social and political outfits were staging a protest against the industrial establishment citing the degradation of the environment in the state.
Earlier, Superstar Rajanikath had expressed similar concern over the alleged involvement of anti-social forces and fringe elements behind the violence which was irrupted during the protest against Vedanta’s Sterlite plant. The Superstar came under fire for dubbing anti-Sterlite activist as fringe elements.
