Additional assistance of Rs 400 crores approved for calamity affected areas of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland

New Delhi, June 30: In a win-win situation, the Central government has approved to provide financial assistance of Rs 400 crore to the calamity affected areas of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.


 

The decision has been taken at a meeting of a high-level committee held by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

The committee approved about 180 crore rupees from National Disaster Response Fund to Andhra Pradesh. Of the amount, 67 crore has been given for floods and 113 crore rupees has been sanctioned for drought in the rabi season last year.

One fourty four crore rupees has been approved for Arunachal Pradesh and 65 crore rupees for Nagaland. Both states were hit by floods and landslides last year.

The committee approved the additional assistance from National Disaster Response Fund of Rs 179.91 crore (Rs 66.77 crore for floods and Rs 113.14 crore for drought - rabi) for Andhra Pradesh, Rs 144.26 crore for Arunachal Pradesh and Rs 65.69 crore for Nagaland.

During 2017-18, Andhra Pradesh was affected by floods and drought, Arunachal Pradesh was hit by floods and landslides and Nagaland by floods and landslides, the statement said.
