Srinagar, June 30: Security forces on Friday eliminated three terrorists after a fierce encounter that took place in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. However, a man died in clashes between stone-throwers and security personnel near the encounter site.

Notably, security forces including the joint team of army and Jammu and Kashmir police led a join operation and cordoned off the Thumna village in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir after getting a specific input of presence of few terrorists. The identity is yet to be revealed.

All the three terrorists were holed up inside a house. The security forces firstly managed to pinpoint their location and then evacuated the civilians. After the civilians were evacuated, security forces managed to eliminate three terrorists. The body of slain terrorists along with arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site soon after the gun-battle was called off.

Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir SP Vaid in a tweet said, “All three terrorists eliminated. Good job boys.”

Unfortunately, during the encounter, local civilians started pelting stone on security forces which led to the erupt of clashes. During clashes, one man died. However, after the incident was reported, SP Vaid took to a Twitter saying, “Today once again I urge to the families to appeal to their boys who have taken the wrong path to leave the path of violence & come home. It is highly unfortunate & painful to see loss of life. @JmuKmrPolice promises to provide all possible assistance including rehabilitation.”

The encounter comes on the same day after the security forces gunned down one terrorist after a fierce encounter that took place in the Kachema forests of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, terrorists hurled a grenade at an army patrolling party in Shopian’s Ahgam, injuring two Jawans.

Importantly, the encounter comes a week after central government deployed a team of National Security Guards (NSG) in Srinagar amidst report of terror attacks on Amarnath Yatra. Last week, as many as four terrorists belonged to Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK) were eliminated in Srigufwara area of Anantnag district.
