Lucknow, August 21: With an interesting bout of twists to assert an FIR against a culprit, the state of Uttar Pradesh has decided to come up with an app. Yes, you heard that right! The Uttar Pradesh police are planning an app for the people of the state to lodge first information reports (FIR), even against unnamed persons very soon.
The app named 'UPCOP' will reduce the people-police station's interface. UPCOP
Enabling several facilities this app will include lodging reports on lost and found, seeking permission for protests and demonstrations, rallies, holding events, applying for character certificates, filing complaints about unclaimed bodies, getting post-mortem reports and information on wanted criminals will be available on it.
Director General of Police O.P. Singh said, “A total of 22 services will be made available through this police app. Once a complaint is lodged, the complainant would also get a certified acknowledgment.”
There would also be a special feature dedicated to senior citizens and those physically challenged. The app will also create awareness among people on cyber-crimes like a debit card, credit card, and ATM card-frauds.
This is a first in Uttar Pradesh to launch an app to address social issues and sway the people of UP with the digital touch. Reducing the police-people interface, this app by the Uttar Pradesh Police Department will help to solve many unresolved issues at a fast pace.
