Donate generously for rehabilitation of families of 499 martyrs of JK who gave supreme sacrifice protecting nation

Srinagar, August 6: In a bid to provide financial aid to the families of 499 special police officers (SPOs) who were martyred fighting against terrorism and terrorists in the valley, the Jammu and Kashmir police from Monday onwards have started a crowdfunding campaign on Twitter.

 

Notably, Director General of Police S P Vaid kicked-off a Twitter crowdfunding campaign with the hashtag #martyredSPOs. He in a tweet said, “My humble appeal to social influencers to lend your helping hand for providing support to raise funds for the @JmuKmrPolice SPOs who lost their lives in line of duty.”


In another tweet, he said, “Our 499 SPOs laid down their lives fighting militancy. My heartfelt appeal to the people of this country to come forward & help rehabilitate their families. Let’s stand up for those who gave their lives for our safety.”


After launching a Twitter crowdfunding campaign, he said, "We have 499 SPOs who have made the supreme sacrifice of their lives in the line of duty. It is our responsibility to take care of their families. This crowdfunding is our small way of expressing gratitude to these martyrs and their families."

He further stated that a large number of SPOs, who are at the forefront of fighting terrorism, as well as maintaining law and order in the state, get injured on duty. "A part of the funds generated will be set aside for providing assistance to the SPOs injured during operations and their dependents suffering from terminal diseases," the DGP added.
