Raising the key issue during Zero Hour in Lok Sabha, Reddy claimed that the concept of the concurrent list should be revalued as it hampers the interests of the state government which is not good for federal structure. Earlier, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had demanded the removal of concurrent list.
Reddy alleged that National parties in order to have maximum control over State affairs use Concurrent list as a political tool. The concurrent list includes those subjects on which both Union and State can formulate the laws.
The Mahabubnagar MP opined that the central government should allow states in formulating various policies with more freedom in planning. He suggested that the Union government should look after issues of foreign affairs, defense and national security. “The central government should engage dialogues with all the stake-holder to take the final call on concurrent list,” said Jitender Reddy.
