'Hope to strengthen India-China relations', PM Modi signs in Chinese after landing at Chennai for Second Informal Summit

Chennai, October 11: Ahead of the India and China's second informal summit scheduled today and tomorrow in Tamil Nadu's Chennai, PM Modi noted to hope a good, healthy conversation with the Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is to arrive the city post noon today.

 
 
Landing in Chennai this morning, PM Modi said that he was very happy to be in Tamil Nadu, the great land known for its great culture and hospitality. "It is very gratifying that Tamil Nadu will host President Xi Jinping. I hope this informal meeting will further strengthen India-China relations", he tweeted in Chinese.
PM Modi and Chinese President Xi will meet in Tamil Nadu’s Mahabalipuram today for a two-day informal summit. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will accompany PM Modi, while China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Politburo members will accompany the Chinese leader.
 
While no documets, agreemnets and MoUs are slated to be signed between the two parties, the informal talks will probably include to resolve the border, trade and the crucial Kashmir issue. This Informal Summit is further slated to provide an opportunity for the two leaders to continue their discussions on overarching issues of bilateral, regional and global importance.
 
The first informal summit between PM Modi and Xi Jinping took place in picturesque Chinese lake city of Wuhan in April 2018, months after a 73 day long face off between the armies of the two countries in Doklam.
