Building upon the strategic trust, Dutch king and queen touch down in India for five day state visit

New Delhi, October 14: King Willem-Alexander and queen Maxima started a five-day state visit to India on Monday after touching down in New Delhi to a welcome by President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state visit is the 19th undertaken by the king and his second official trip to India.

 
 
Citing the first day of the visit, EAM S Jaishankar called on the delegates extending to build upon the strategic trust. EAM, HM King Willem-Alexander and HM Queen Maxima of the Netherlands had fruitful discussions on expanding the relationship between the two nations.
 
The royal couple is further slated to be in national capital where they will attend a state banquet and a technology summit, where the king will give a speech. "On Wednesday, Mumbai is on the agenda and on Thursday and Friday the group will travel to the southern state of Kerala", the statement read.
 
The Netherlands has a growing Indian population and trade links between the two countries stretch back 400 years, to the time of the VOC. According to India’s ministry of external affairs, India and the Netherlands had bilateral trade turnover of $12.87 bn in the period 2018-2019 and the Netherlands is the fifth largest foreign investor in India.
