Ahmedabad, October 24: Ahead of the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, India at larges sets the stage to prepare in full swing to celebrate the National Unity Day on October 31 in a grand manner.
While PM Narendra Modi is slated to visit Kevadia in Gujarat to pay his homage to the great leader at Statue of Unity, Home Minister Amit Shah will flag of the commemorative Run For Unity from New Delhi's Major Dhyanchand Stadium.
It is in the last tyear that PM Modi inaugurated the Statue of Unity, the world's tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, in Gujarat's Kevadiya, on Patel's 143rd birth anniversary.
However, the statue did not receive grand welcome by the farmers and tribal groups, who planned large scale protests. To celebrate the sprit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, celebrations will be held in more than 700 districts of the country.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the great son of the soil, popularly known as the Iron Man of India, demonstrated distinguished leadership qualities during the freedom struggle and then gave a unified geographical shape to the nation by agglomerating hundreds of princely states.
