Ready to showcase extra at 2019 IFFI edition, CM Sawant decides to screen 7 Goan films at special section

Panaji, November 05: Ahead of the 50th International Film Festival set to begin by this month's 20 in Goa, the state CM Pramod Sawant has affirmed that seven Goan movies would be screened under the special Goan section at the IFFI.

 
 
In a series of tweets, the Chief Minister said, "In this 50th edition of IFFI, additional three screens at Inox Porvorim were being taken to showcase more number of movies than previous editions. further one open air screen would be put up at Miramar beach, thereby enhancing the total capacity by around 1600 seats", he said adding that popular movies would also be screened in different Talukas.
The Chief Minister attended a steering committee for IFFI in New Delhi yesterday to review preparation of Golden Jubilee edition of IFFI beginning from 20th of this month. "A section of seven Konkani films by Goan filmmakers will be an official part of the 50th Iffi and this announcement has received with cheerful response from the film enthusiasts in Goa", the statement as well added.
However, Vice chairperson of Entertainment Society of Goa Subhash Phaldesai said that the films selected for this Konkani section would be announced shortly. In the meanwhile the 13th edition of Film Bazaar to be organised by National Film Development Corporation has announced five selected projects for its work in progress lab that will take place on the sidelines of International Film Festival of India.
