Ranchi, December 18: Campaigning for the fifth and final phase of Assembly elections in Jharkhand will conclude today. Sixteen constituencies spread over Sahebganj, Pakur, Dumka, Jamtara, Deoghar and Godda districts of Santhal Pargana region will go to polls in this phase on Friday.
In five assembly segments of Borio, Barhait, Litipara, Maheshpur and Sikaripara campaigning will end at 3 PM due to security reasons. In the remaining 11 seats, campaigning will end at 5 PM.
Star campaigners of political parties, including BJP, Congress, JMM, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha and AJSU, are making the last-ditch effort to woo voters.
BJP Working President JP Nadda, JMM President Shibu Soren, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha President Babulal Marandi, AJSU Chief Sudesh Kumar Mahto are scheduled to address rallies today.
The fourth phase of Assembly elections in Jharkhand passed off peacefully. Fifteen constituencies spread over four districts, namely Dhanbad, Deoghar, Giridih and Bokaro, went to polls in this phase today. Chief Electoral Officer, Vinay Kumar Choubey, said 62.54 percent voting was recorded in this phase. He said the percentage is likely to increase after getting the final figure from presiding officers.
