Catching collars of the criminals, UP arrests three key PFI conspirators for violence during CAA protest

Lucknow, December 26: In Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow police has caught collars of three key conspirators of the violence that erupted on the 19th of this month during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act in the city. SSP Lucknow Kalanidhi Naithani said that all three are members of the organization Popular Front of India (PFI) and were arrested for instigating violence in Lucknow and other districts of the state.

CO Hazratganj Abhay Kumar Mishra said that 26 placards, 29 flags, 100 pump flats and 36 paper cuttings have been recovered from Asafak and Nadeem, calling for protests by CAB and NRC. Apart from this, many books of literature related to Ayodhya dispute, Babri Masjid, terrorism (confusion and truth) and democratic rights movements have been found from him. Officials claim that the organization also instigated violence in many areas of West UP. The names of other people have been revealed in questioning of the accused. The police is trying to arrest him.The police authorities have arrested Waseem Ahmad, Nadim and Ashfaq on suspicion of having a prominent role in launching the violent protests held in Lucknow.

According to the SSP, Dr Naveed and 11 others of the PFI, who were protesting against the CAA and NRC, were arrested in Shamli. PFI state president Wasim is a resident of A Block Vikas Bhawan Mor in the capital.

The situation in the state is normal and there are no reports of any untoward incident. As per the information provided by DGP office a total of 213 FIRs has been filed till yesterday and 925 persons arrested in case of the violence.

Five thousand five hundred fifty-eight persons are also taken into custody and action is being taken against them. Police are also keeping a close eye on social media platforms and 81 FIRs has been filed and 120 people are arrested for posting objectionable content.

Police have also released a photograph of the rioters and appealed to the general public to give information about them.

In February, the BJP Jharkhand government banned PFI in the state to curb its anti-national activities and for keeping links with terror outfits like ISIS.

According to the government notification the PFI is banned with immediate effect under the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 1908.

The notification said that becoming a member of PFI, giving donation or keeping literature of its extremist policy or publishing them is illegal. The decision to ban PFI has been taken after a review that its activities have increased and is dangerous to the state and the nation and it has the power to disrupt peace, communal harmony and secular structure, an official said.

The members of the PFI are internally influenced by the Islamic states. Many PFI members have gone to Syria secretly.
