Continuing India’s dominance, Mehuli Ghosh wins gold at 2019 South Asian Games

New Delhi, December 3: India’s veteran shooter Mehuli Ghosh today shot history with a gold medal at the 2019 South Asian Games at Kathmandu in Nepal. Mehuli, who won two gold medals at the recently concluded ISSF World Championships, scored 253.3 in the final to clinch the gold medal and set a new world record.

Mehuli broke the 252.9 points set by Apurvi Chandela earlier this year. Chandela had shot 252.9 points at the ISSF World Cup earlier this year in May. Her gold medal also meant India continued its dominance at the 2019 South Asian Games in Nepal, taking their medal tally at SAG 2019 to 27, 10 of which have come in gold.
Earlier, India also beat Pakistan 3-1 in the men's volleyball final to claim gold. India beat their arch-rivals match in four sets. Pakistan won the first set, however, India bounced back to win the match with the final score 3-1. The game saw a tough fight between both the Asian nations. With another gold, India's medals tally, as per the latest update, reached to 27 (10 gold, 12 silver and 5 bronze) in the South Asian Games 2019.
 
 
 
Nepal currently lead the South Asian Games 2010 medal tally with 33 medals in total while India are four behind. India have so far clinched 10 gold, 12 silver medals and 5 bronze. Hosts Nepal, who also lead the medal standings, have won 19 gold medals, 5 silver and 9 bronze medals.
