The next landmark step towards digitization of education, Government launched “Operation Digital Board”

New Delhi, Feb 20: Furthering the commitment of transformation in education, Ministry of Human resources introduced the programme “Operation Digital Board”.

 

Under this programme, all 9 lakh classrooms in the country to have digital boards by 2022. The programme will be implemented in schools from this academic year.

On addressing the occasion, Union Ministry Prakash Jawadekar said, “the education is national agenda which empowers the individual, family, society and the nation”.

He highlighted steps like a codification of learning outcomes, national academic depository, digital initiatives that strength education, training of 15 lakh untrained teachers, re-introduction of class X board examinations, and the status of no detention policy.

He mentioned that the States requirements of additional funds are well justified.

Further, he said, “Around 60-70 years back, ‘Operation Black Board’ was launched, and now as the country progressing, we have come up with ‘Operation Digital Board’, the aim of which is to have digital and interactive boards in every classroom”.

 

Operation Digital Board will endeavor in all schools in 5 years. This project will be undertaken jointly by Centre, State, CSR, and community. This project aims to improve the quality of education. Students will be empowered with 360-degree information with the interesting learning experience and teacher accountability will also increase.

Praksha Jawadekar informed, in total, there are around 9 lakh classrooms, including 7 lakh classrooms in schools and 2 lakh in universities and colleges. He said, all these classes will have digital boards by 2022. The board will have all the relevant material, tutorials and with we would enter the age of film class model.

Javadekar said, “We are committed to ensuring Quality, Equity, Accessibility, Accountability and Affordability in education by pro-active action and plan. We are committed to promoting Swacch Bharat, Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, Padhe Bharat, Sugamya Bharat, and physical education. We resolve to promote human value education, life skill education, experiential learning to bring out good human beings out of the education system.”
