Amaravati, Feb 27: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Visakhapatnam visit, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has once again urged Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to look into the matter of Visakhapatnam special railway zone. In an official communication, citing provisions of the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Act, 2014, Naidu said that center must fulfill the promise made to the people of Andhra Pradesh.
Referring to the report submitted by the committee of senior railway officers regarding proposed railway zone at Vizag, the Chief Minister requested Goyal to take a final call on the long pending demand. The mega project will bring divisions Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur and Guntakal under the purview of Visakhapatnam zone.
Recently, a top delegation of state BJP leaders met Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and expressed concern over the alleged delay in clearing the prestigious project and also submitted a memorandum regarding special Railway Zone and other key developmental issues associated with the North Andhra region.
Amidst strained relationship between BJP and ruling TDP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the port city on March 1 where he will address the gathering of BJP worker. According to media reports, PM Modi is likely to announce key initiatives for the coastal region.
