Gratitude and appreciation of selfless devotion, President Kovind presents Presidential colors to Indian Air Force

Coimbatore, Mar 4: For the recent achievements by Indian Air Force, For their valor and bravery, President of India Ram Nath Kovind presented the respected President's colors to Hakimpet Air Force Station and five Base Repair Depot of Indian Air Force.

President of India, Supreme Commander of Indian Armed Force, conferred the awards in a ceremony conducted at Air Force Station Sulur in Tamil Nadu, which is one of the most important airbases of IAF.

 

On this occasion, while addressing ceremony, President Kovind said, “I take the opportunity to compliment the personnel and families of the IAF, past, and present, for their selfless sacrifice and service to the nation. India is indeed proud of you. I wish you and your families the very best and a glorious future”.

Further, He expressed, “The nation honors Air Force Station, Hakimpet and 5 Base Repair Depot, Sulur, today with a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for their selfless devotion, professionalism and courage in the face of adversity”. He added, “Indian Air Force has over the years grown into a modern, technology-intensive force distinguished by its commitment to excellence and professionalism. IAF continues to modernize in a rapid manner and is in the process of a very comprehensive modernization plan”.

While addressing the current situation, President Kovind stated, “. India remains firmly committed to peace, but in case the need arises, we will use all our might to protect the nation. Our Armed Forces reflect our resolve. This valor was on display very recently, as the IAF carried out preemptive strikes on a terrorist camp”.

After the presentation of colors, the President also observed a display by Akash Ganga, IAF’s own daredevil paratroopers who performed stunts at 10,000 ft high and landing at preplanned spots. Along with this, Parachute jumpers of the IAF also presented a tri-color formation. The Sarang helicopter aerobatic and Tejas and Air worriers Drill also demonstrated aerobatics and display to honor the occasion.

According to an official statement, Once the defense corridor, in which Coimbatore is an integral part, comes up, the Sulur Air Force will gain importance. Through aircraft are imported, their spares required maintenance that can then be brought from newly coming up parts.

Further, the statement added, 20 acres have been identified for DRDO for this project.

The Sulur Airbase is operational since 1940. Initially, it was a naval station and later converted into an air station. 5-Base Repair Depot along with a few other squadrons of the Air Force and the Sarang helicopter display team have made it their base. Similarly, the Hakimpet Station that gets the Presidential Colours today is a training base for the Air Force.
