London, March 9: Meghan Markle didn’t become a humanitarian because she was thrown into the spotlight. She’s actually been using her voice to create equality before she was even a teenager. At the age of 11, she sent Hillary Clinton, who was First Lady at the time, a letter explaining how she was upset over an advertisement for a soap manufacturer that suggested women belong in the kitchen. Due to her letter, the company changed the ad.

Even at a young age, Markle was fighting for women’s rights. Now, she’s spoken on International Women’s Day about gender equality, she’s a global ambassador for World Vision Canada and is also part of the Clear Water Campaign.

“If things are wrong, and there is a lack of justice and inequality, then someone needs to say something. And why not me?” she said, discussing her own start as a voice for women based on a childhood experience where she became active in working towards equality. She also touched on her past work with girls’ education in countries around the world and her plans with the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, an organization that supports young leaders worldwide, of which she was named Vice-President on Friday.

“It is about global feminism. It is about a parity and equality for all of us.”

Markle has also talked about balancing her charity work and her career. She realized the importance of prioritizing one over the other in important cases. Overall, Markle proves to be a woman that does. So, we compiled a list of famous Meghan Markle quotes to show you how to live a well-balanced life.
