New Delhi, April 1: In a farsighted view to accomplish every dream, India has successfully risen the bar not just for itself but has also changed the way world looks at India. With ‘Make in India’ initiative speeding high with bringing new innovations, it has given a major boost by inducting its sixth indigenously designed and built transport ship in the Indian Navy.

The ship named LCU L56, is a Landing Craft Utility of Mk-4 class, said a Navy communique. It will be based at the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and will complement the amphibious capabilities of the force by aiding the transportation of troops, tanks and equipment.

Assisted by five officers and 50 sailors, Lt Cdr Gopinath Narayan will be in charge of the vessel. With the ever-increasing influence of the PLA Navy of Communist China, India is stressed to wield the best of its potential in the region to counter strategize Beijing’s ambitions over an area where a huge chunk of maritime movement takes place, which includes vital supply routes.
