And it’s a wrap! 61.2 percent voters decide the future of India in Phase II of LS polls

New Delhi, April 18: Dropping down curtains, the second phase of celebrating ‘Desh Ka Maha Tyohar’ comes to an end. The second phase of Lok Sabha elections witnessed many ups and downs in the state of West Bengal but the other states performed well as voters came in large number giving a supporting hand to democracy.

 

Signifying a positive release of data, the Election Commission has asserted and notified that the total voter turnout for Phase 2 has been recorded at 61.12 percent. For the second phase of the 17th Lok Sabha elections, 97 constituencies spread over 12 states and a Union Territory had to decide the future of India. On a positive note, the percentage of votes has turned out to be impressive. The ultimate percentage of votes till 5 p.m. are as follows:

West Bengal: 75.27 %

Manipur: 74.69 %

Assam: 73.32 %

Puducherry: 72.40 %

Chhattisgarh: 68.70 %

Tamil Nadu: 63.7 %

Karnataka: 61.80 %

Bihar: 58.14 %

Uttar Pradesh: 58.12 %

Odisha: 57.41 %

Maharashtra: 55.37%

Jammu and Kashmir: 43.37%

As the political battle intensifies, leaders and politicians pitch in for a strong base for the upcoming phases of Lok Sabha polls. On one hand, it is national security and benefits of the people, while on the other hand, it is 70 years of corruption and jumla manifestos for the masses.

The next phase of Lok Sabha elections is slated on 23rd April 2019 where 115 constituencies will go polling across 14 states. Counting of votes will take place on May 23, after all, seven phases of voting are completed.
