Lucknow, May 30: Ever heard of a real filmy drama followed by the remarkable courage and presence of mind shown by the authorities in a stalker’s tale who had held an actress..? Here it is where two UP police personnel namely SP Sonebhadra, Salman Taj Patil & Insp Robertganjdisplayed courage to save life of a Bojpuri film actress Ritu Singh and rescued her.
“I could have died today, so could have the one who tried to protect me. I am thankful to the police team for anyhow saving my life irrespective of the danger to their own safety”, said Ritu Singh thanking the authorities to risk their lives and save her tactfully.
Bhojpuri film actress Ritu Singh had a valid reason to fear for her life. Her desperate stalker for two years Pankaj Yadav barged her into a hotel room at Sonebhadra where she was shooting. Her instagram updates diligently revealed her location to him. Ritu raised an alarm when Pankaj attempted to force himself on her at gun point.
A large crowd gathered outside her room to save her when Pankaj fired aloud at the gathering injuring a person. In the meantime Salman Taj Patil & Insp Robertganj reached outside the room where Ritu was kept as a hostage. Exhibiting great presence of mind with Ritu’s safety as the priority SP Sonebhadra tried to engage Pankaj in a conversation.
His terms were clear- 'Marry Ritu or murder her'. Skillfully negotiating, SP Sonebhadra promised to convince Ritu and that’s when he allowed him into the room. Pankaj kept on pointing the pistol at SP Sonebhadra with his finger on the trigger during the negotiations. Looking for an opportunity to disarm him, SP persuaded him to keep the pistol on the bed. But just when SP tried whisking away the pistol, Pankaj grabbed it and open fired.
Using field craft tactics, SP and SHO overpowered and arrested Pankaj saving the lady’s life. “We are proud of SP Salman Taj Patil and SHO Robertsganj Naveen Kr Tiwari for risking their lives to save the lady”, said DGP UP OP Singh, DGP L&O Anand Kumar and all senior officers appreciating the team for their valour, announcing a reward.
