New Delhi, June 25: Slamming the opposition party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his reply to the motion of thanks said, the main Opposition party has no connect with the masses. “We don’t want to grow taller like you, but remain connected with roots; Don’t want to disconnect with masses,” he said triggering thumping desks from treasury benches.

Slyly recalling June 25 as the day of Emergency, PM Modi said that the nation’s soul was crushed on June 25, 1975. Asserting a scathing remark on the opposition leaders, PM Modi said that few people were constantly asking during the debate- Who did it? Who did it? I want to ask them- today is 25th June. Who imposed the Emergency? Who trampled over the spirit of the Constitution, gagged the media and bullied the judiciary? People can’t forget those dark days.

Continuing his speech, PM Modi also attacked the Gandhi’s condemning them for ignoring the contribution made by Manmohan Singh, PV Narsimha Rao. He said, “People outside the family don’t get recognition. Did those in power from 2004 to 2014 ever talk about the good work of Atal ji? Did they ever speak about the good work of Narasimha Rao Ji? In this Lok Sabha debate the same people did not even speak of Manmohan Singh Ji?”

Owning the dais for his prolific speech, PM Modi cited, “In the year 2014, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was chosen as an experiment, but in 2019, the people who reign supreme power in democracy have reposed their faith in us after evaluating our performance. And there is no greater satisfaction than being rewarded on the basis of your performance.”

The people have chosen BJP entirely for the work they have done and for fulfilling the promises which were made to them. PM Modi also recalled Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s contribution on water resources. It was Babasaheb who worked diligently on waterways and irrigation. Sardar Sarovar Dam was the brainchild of Sardar Patel. But, work on this Dam kept getting delayed. As Chief Minister of Gujarat, I had to embark on a fast for this project. After NDA took office, the pace of work increased significantly and it is benefiting many people.
