New Delhi, July 19: Viewing to enhance transparency in the billing system on the railway platforms, the department of Indian Railways has instigated an new policy named ‘No bill, No payment’, allowing the customers to buy a product for free if the vendor on the platform fails to give a receipt.
“Under this scheme, passengers will not have to pay any kind of money if they do not get the bill to buy goods within the railway station or in the train”, said Rail head Piyush Goyal announcing the policy.
This would result in increased transparency and trust of the travellers regarding the actual price of the products as most of them complain that they are looted for some extra on the railway platforms, when compared to the usual markets, he added.
“Referring to the traveller’s complains received, the vendors charge more than the price of water bottles and there is no fixed price for many food items”, he said adding that after ‘No bill, no payment’ policy implementation, the vendors would also have to pay penalty for not issuing a bill and that this would benefit millions of people traveling in the daily routine.
