One for the heirs of liberation freedom fighters; India to provide 10,000 scholarships to Muktijodhas

New Delhi, July 23: Extending a helping hand to its neighbouring country Bangladesh, India has decided to provide 10,000 scholarships for heirs of the liberation war fighters of Bangladesh called 'Muktijodhas'. Muktijodhas are Bangladeshi freedom fighters who fight in 1971 liberation war.

 

This scholarship will be permitted to the heirs of war fighters for over the next five years under the Nutan India-Bangladesh Maitree Muktijodha Sontan Scholarship Scheme. In a Press statement the High commission of India in Dhaka said that it has partnered with the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Government of Bangladesh to select deserving students covering all districts of Bangladesh.

The scheme started in 2017-18 awards scholarship to one thousand students each at the higher secondary and undergraduate levels every year. The Undergraduate students will get a onetime amount of Taka 50,000 and Higher Secondary students Taka 20,000 under the scheme.

The last date for submitting application is August 22.
