New Delhi, Jul. 25: Engineering is one of the most aspired qualifications and career in India. Giving good news about Engineering in India, the recent data All India Council for Technical Education declared that Engineering placements have reached a seven-year high.
According to the figures, 25% of all students admitted to undergraduate and postgraduate engineering programs were placed in 2018-19. The number jumps to 52% when only those who successfully completed their courses were counted.
The figures cover data from courses in 3,311 engineerings, architecture and design colleges.
In 2017-18, the percentage of those who were placed was 45.2% among the students who successfully completed their courses. Education officials believe that higher rates of college placements point to a better quality of education being imparted at these institutions.
AICTE vice-chairman M P Poonia said, “Campus placement is getting better on the back of more hiring by companies coupled with the closure of engineering colleges, revised curriculum, better training of faculty and lower enrolments”.
Poonia also highlighted the fact that internships have been made compulsory for engineering students, further increasing their odds of being hired.
