New Delhi, July 29: Leaving the viewers mesmerised by the serene sea under the soft sun shine striving to leave imprints on the sand of time, International sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik has conquered over People’s Choice Prize in International Sand Art Championship 2019 at Boston in the USA.
The Padma Shi awardee, representing India at the festival made his sand art on Plastic Pollution, delivering a noble message to ‘Save Our Oceans’. The festival culminated into some of the most mesmerising sand sculptures built deftly by talented artists who vie for the grand prize, while the judges chose the best creation based on details.
Sudarshan having represented India in 60 international sand sculpture championships and festivals all around the world till date, has won 27 championship prizes for the country. Notably, he attended the 2013 World Sand Sculpting Championship in Atlanta and won three gold medals at the North America Solo Sand Sculpting Competition in 2010.
His works on the promotion of Indian Tourism in Global Forum through his talent of art in different countries like Belgium, USA, Holland, London was appreciated by dignitaries like the President, the Prime Minister, LS Speaker and the Governor of State and making it highly recommendable.
His sand recreation of the Taj Mahal in 2005 at the Houston International Sand Art festival is what first got him noticed in the United States. With the handful of sand magic he owns, Patnaik creates social awareness in national and international arena on world peace, global warming, terrorism, saving endangered wildlife species and more.
