New Delhi, August 13: Today, Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today filed nomination papers as a Congress candidate for the by-poll to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan. Dr. Singh filed four sets of nomination papers in the chamber of Returning Officer in the Rajasthan Assembly. But the only concern is that will silent ex-PM now speak in Parliament? Because as a Prime Minister he was nothing but a silent puppet.

This seat fell vacant in June this year after the demise of BJP Member Madan Lal Saini. Dr. Singh said that he will do whatever is possible to promote the cause of the people of the state.

Rajasthan Assembly has 200 seats but currently, there are 198 MLAs and two seats are vacant.

"I express gratefulness to the people of Rajasthan and the Congress party for giving me this privilege for serving the people of Rajasthan in the council of states. I will do my very best to do whatever is possible to promote the cause of the people of Rajasthan," he added.

Singh was a member of the upper house from Assam for almost three decades.

He was a Rajya Sabha member for five consecutive terms from 1991 to 2019 and the country's prime minister for two consecutive terms between 2004 and 2014.
