Completely affable, warm hearted! EAM S Jaishankar calls on Nepal's President and PM subsequent to 5th Joints Commission Meeting

Kathmandu, August 22: Post a fruitful meeting with Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli yesterday ahead of the productive discussion with the other counterparts, the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar while on a two day crucial visit to Nepal, called on the President of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari today.

 
 
“Honoured to call on President of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari”, Dr Jaishankar tweeted. Jaishankar yesterday had a warm and in depth conversation with PM K P Sharma Oli. Meanwhile, the fifth meeting of the Nepal-India Joint Commission began where he co-chaired the meeting along with his Nepalese counterpart Pradeep Gyawali.
 
Both the leaders took stock of the entire gamut of India-Nepal bilateral relationship and also reviewed the overall state of cooperation areas such as connectivity and economic partnership, trade and transit, power and water resources, culture, education and other matters of mutual interest.
Established in 1987, the Nepal-India Joint Commission’s meetings are being held alternately in both countries. The last meeting was held in New Delhi in October 2016. This is the first high level visit by any Indian minister after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s re-election in May this year.
