'It's shocking, will miss her', distressed in the hour of grief, oppositions remember Sushma Swaraj as an outstanding politician

New Delhi, August 07: With the sovereign at large mourning over the sudden death of the former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj yesterday, the oppositions too have held out their pen, noting words in her memory.

 
Rahul Gandhi, son of the former Congress President Sonia Gandhi, exhibiting his sorrow said that he was shocked to learn the death of Sushma Swaraj. Paying condolences to her family in the hour of grief, he said, “She was an extraordinary political leader, a gifted orator and an exceptional Parliamentarian, with friendships across party lines”.
Further expressing deep grief over former EAM’s sad demise, M K Stalin of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam tweeted saying, “The news of the death of former Foreign Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Ms. Sushma Swaraj, is very distressing. As a woman, she achieved great heights in public life and excelled in her responsibilities”.
Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee, founder Chairperson of All India Trinamool Congress also seemed distressed over the incident. “Deeply saddened, shocked at the sudden passing away of Sushma Swaraj Ji.I knew her since the 1990s”, she said.
 
“Even though our ideologies differed, we shared many cordial times in Parliament. An outstanding politician, leader, good human being. Will miss her”, she added paying condolences to her admirers.
 
The BJP veteran, who suffered a massive heart attack, passed away at the age of 67. Her last Twitter post was about thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the government’s move on Kashmir stating that she was waiting for this day in her lifetime.
