Chhattisgarh: Two Maoists killed in Bastar division

Raipur, September 14: In Chhattisgarh, two Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with a joint team of security forces last night in Bastar division. According to the Superintendent of police of Dantewada district Abhishek Pallav, a joint team of District Reserve Guard and police was on a search operation in Kirandul area.


 

An encounter took place between Security forces and Maoists in the jungles of Kutrem. After the gun battle, bodies of two Maoists were recovered from the spot. Killed Maoists had the reward of one lakh rupees each on their head. Police also recovered a 12 bore rifle and a pistol from the encounter site.

Last month, security forces eliminated seven Maoists. Also, 14 Maoists surrendered in Sukma district of Bastar division. They have surrendered in Fulbagdi area before senior officials of the district police force. These Maoists were active in Poggabheji area. According to police, these rebels were allegedly involved in various Naxal incidents.

Also, two Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Dantewada district. The exchange of fire between District Reserve Guard - DRG and Maoists took place in Kirandul area of the district this morning. Sources said the team of DRG recovered the bodies of Maoists along with two weapons from the spot. Both Maoists had a reward of 5 lakh rupees each on their head. Police said they have also arrested one Maoist from the place of encounter.

Plus a hardcore Maoist was killed in an encounter with security forces on Friday. The gunfight between District Reserve Guard and Maoists took place at Dabba forest in Dantewada district. Police recovered the body of Maoist and a rifle from the spot.

The killed Maoist was carrying a reward of 5 lakh rupees on his head. According to police officials, he was involved in the attack in which BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi was killed during recent Lok Sabha elections.
