Los Angeles, September 23: Wrapping up the 71st PrimeTime Emmy Awards on Sunday night in Los Angeles, the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones took home 12 Emmy Awards this year, the most of any of the shows nominated in 2019, where the winners were honoured for their performances with some exciting and unpredictable wins.
Game of Thrones, which had a record 32 nominations, became one of the major stories as it failed to break it's own Emmy record. Having won 10 Creative Arts Emmy awards for Season 8 earlier, just three more could have helped it to take its tally to 13, from 12, thereby creating a new record.
Although the eighth and final season certainly had its moments, the overall consensus from critics and fans was that the episodes struggled to match the immense standards set by previous seasons. Tyrion Lannister star Peter Dinklage also won another Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
The moment was a bit emotional for Game of Thrones fans as they witnessed the cast reunite to present at award Emmys 2019. The core cast reunited to present the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie. As they made their way to take the spotlight, the crowd present at the LA venue rose from their seats to give the cast a standing ovation. The Emmys 2019 attendees erupted into huge applause as the cast gathered to present the award.
