New Delhi, Sept. 23: Yesterday, India witnessed the most energetic and electrifying night when Indian PM Narendra Modi along with US President Donald Trump attended the magnificent gala event in Houston, “HowdyModi”, where, he addressed spectacular gathering 50,000 Indian-Americans.

On this quite splendid event, where PM Modi took the center-stage and even endorsed Donald Trump with 'Abki Baar, Trump Sarkar', the US President also heaped praises on his "close friend".

The international media reacted with an array of opinions and views, but most of the media praised this new arch in India-US relations.

While covering the entire event, the Washington Post stated, “it “boasts” that the live audience of 50,000 persons will be the largest gathering for an invited foreign leader in the US”.

The British media, BBC termed this Houston event, a “win-win for both leaders”. “For President Trump, it was a chance to court Indian-Americans for the 2020 presidential election race where Texas could emerge as a battleground state. For Mr. Modi, a PR triumph and picture with the president of the United States may help him shrug off the criticism over his recent strong-arm policies at home”.

The Guardian also observed the same phenomena, it said, “the event had the feel of one of Trump’s campaign rallies”.

The Reuter applauded to the success of the event, it said, “Jubilant supporters dressed in everything from ornate saris to simple dhotis and even a few cowboy hats waved American and Indian flags, chanted “Modi! Modi!” and munched on the concession stand snacks that included Indian staples of samosas and naan bread - along with nachos”.

The Aljazeera as always wailed about the unimportant issues. Laurin-Whitney Gottbrath of the Al-Jazeera criticized “India’s Hindu nationalist government” for its actions. “Hindus in the world, Hindus in America are not awake to the horrors taking place. I do not believe that most of the Hindus that are supporting Modi really, truly, understand the extent to which the [Hindu nationalist] forces are aligned with fascism”.

The New York Times’ Roger Cohen said in his opinion, “At Rally for India's Modi, Trump Plays Second Fiddle but a Familiar Tune".

NYT also said Trump and Modi are both forceful, media-savvy politicians. But they are not alike. Modi, a self-made man from a poor family, is measured, ascetic, not driven by impulse. Trump was born on third base. He’s erratic, guided by the devouring needs of his ego. I’d bet on Modi to transform India, all of it, including the newly integrated Kashmir region.

The WSJ (Wall Street Journal) talked about the near-future consequences of this meet, it said, the joint appearance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump before a strong crowd of 50,000 Indian-Americans underscores the growing strategic significance of the relationship between the two largest democracies of the world.

"The joint appearance also underscores the growing strategic significance of US-India ties. The world's two largest democracies are a vital check on China's ambitions to dominate the Asia-Pacific region, as Mr. Trump recognizes and Barack Obama did as well.
