Ray of hope revives! ISRO locates Vikram Lander on Moon surface; now eyes towards communication

Bengaluru, September 8: Its news of joy and again to feel proud as Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chief K. Sivan today announced that the space agency has found the location of Vikram Lander on the moon surface.


 

"We've found the location of Vikram Lander on lunar surface & orbiter has clicked a thermal image of Lander. But there is no communication yet. We are trying to have contact. It will be communicated soon", the ISRO chief said.

The ISRO chief said the orbiter has clicked a thermal image of the Vikram Lander. Sivan said thought the space agency has located the lander, but there is no communication yet. The ISRO is trying to establish contact with the lander and it will be communicated soon.

On early Saturday, K Sivan had confirmed that contact with Chandrayaan-2's lander has been lost by the team is trying to retrieve it by analyzing the data.

The ISRO chief had said that the lander Vikram was descending on to the lunar surface as planned and that until 2.1 kilometers above the lunar surface, its performance was normal. But them, "lander to the ground station was lost," Sivan said. "Data is being analyzed.”
