PLA soldier straying across LAC to be handed back

New Delhi, Oct 20: In a major development, the Indian Army apprehended a Chinese soldier after he had strayed into the Indian territory in the Demochok sector of eastern Ladakh across the Line of Actual Control (LAC) where the troops of both the countries are engaged in border standoff since May.

"The PLA soldier identified as Corporal Wang Ya Long was apprehended in the Demchok sector of Eastern Ladakh on 19 October 2020 after he had strayed across the LAC," the Indian Army stated.
 
Further, it said that the PLA soldier has been provided medical assistance including oxygen, food and warm clothes to protect him from the vagaries of extreme altitude and harsh climatic conditions.
 
The request in finding the soldier came across the People' Liberation Army (PLA). "A request has also been received from the PLA about the whereabouts of the missing soldier," it said.
 
As per established protocols, he will be returned back to Chinese officials at the Chushul – Moldo meeting point after completion of formalities.
