Hafiz Saeed sentenced to 10 year imprisonment

Islamabad, Nov 20 : An anti terrorism court in Pakistan has sentenced the 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed to 10 years of imprisonment on Nov 19. The decision was taken in regard of an illegal funding case.

The Jamat ud Dawa (JuD) head was arrested on July 17 2019, on charges of terror financing. He was sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment in February 2020, regarding the terror financing charges. According to reports, an anti terrorism court in Pakistan has announced Saeed guilty on two terror charges and also ordered for seizure of his properties.
 
Hafiz Saeed is among one of the most wanted terrorists globally. The US government has placed a bounty of 10 million dollars on him. Other than Saeed, three other associates of Saeed have also been sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment. According to reports, the Anti-Terrorism Court of Lahore on Thursday has sentenced four leaders of Jamat-ud-Dawa, including the chief Hafiz Saeed, in two more cases.
 
Saeed and his two close aides – Zafar Iqbal and Yahya Mujahid – have been sentenced to 10 and a half years each, while JuD chief’s brother-in-law Abdul Rehman Makki was sentenced to six months imprisonment.
