CBI files charge sheet against 4 accused in Hathras case

Lucknow, Dec 19: The CBI has filed a charge sheet n the Court of Special Judge, Hathras, against four accused in Hathras case.

The CBI has booked all four accused Thakur men - Sandeep, Ravi, Ramu and Luv Kush under Sections 302(Murder), SC-ST Act (3,2,5), 376 (Rape), 376D (Gangrape), 354 (Assault on women to outrage the modesty of women) of the IPC.
 
The maximum sentence in the above charges is capital punishment. MS Pundheer, the counsel for the four accused, said, “The charge sheet has been filed against all four accused namely Sandeep, Luv Kush, Ramu and Ravi. The court has taken cognizance.”
 
The victim was allegedly gang-raped in a village under Chandpa police station in Hathras district on Sept 14. She was initially rushed to a Hospital in Aligarh, but was shifted to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital after her condition deteriorated.
 
The victim continued to fight for her life for 15 days, but finally succumbed to her injuries.
 
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath had ordered CBI probe to investigate the matter, in early October. Initially, he had ordered an SIT to be formed to investigate the crime. Ever since then, the matter has become extremely polarised and several new facets have emerged.
