End of An Era! MDH's Spice King Dharampal Gulati passes away

New Delhi, December, 03: The owner and CEO of the iconic spice masala brand MDH, Mahashay Dharampal Gulati passed away aged 97 on Thursday morning due to cardiac arrest. He undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi.

Dharampal Gulati was a man who himself became the face of his company's advertisements. His decision to appear on the masala commercials for his brand became a big commercial success story making MDH and 'Dadaji' household names in the country. The most special of which was his red turban which he was seen wearing in an advertisement.
 
Most fondly known as ‘Mahashay', Gulati was born in 1919 in Pakistan’s Sialkot, where his father had set up a small shop. However, after partition in 1947, his family moved to Delhi in India. In 1953, Gulati rented a shop in Chandni Chowk, named it Mahashiyan Di Hatti (MDH), and started selling spices. his was the starting of Mashian Di Hatti (MDH), his father's legacy.

At present, the MDH Spices enterprise has now grown into a Rs 1,500 crore empire with 15 factories. As per reports, Gulati became the highest-paid CEO of an FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) company in India in 2017.
 
The business did not just flourish in India but he became a distributor and exporter as well. At present, MDH spices are exported to various parts of the world including the UK, Europe, UAE, Canada.
