Dhaka, Dec 5: Bangladesh has send a batch of 1642 Rohingyas to the newly developed facility at Bhashan Char. Another 3500 Rohingyas are to be sent to the Bhashan char this week.
Bangladesh has functioned further in it's plan to partially relocate Rohingyas from the refugee camps of Cox’s Bazar. The first batch of 1642 Rohingyas was transferred to Bhashan Char on Dec 4. According to the official statement of Banglades's navy, the relocation of all the eligible Rohigyas in Bangladesh is planned to complete within a week.
Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) reaffirmed in a statement that the relocation has been done in a completely voluntary manner. It also stated that relocation is part of the broader plan to repatriate the Rohingya refugees which is currently the only priority for Bangladesh.
According to the official records, currently more than a million Rohingyas are living in refugee camps in Bangladesh after fleeing the military crackdown in the Rakhine province of Myanmar in August 2017. All of them are to be relocated soon.
