India, Qatar decides to create a task force for investments into India

New Delhi, December 09: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of Qatar decided to create a special Task-Force to further facilitate investments by Qatar Investment Authority into India.

They also resolved to explore Qatari investments in the entire energy value-chain in India during their telephonic conversations.
 
 
 
Both the leaders discussed the robust cooperation between both countries in the fields of investment flows and energy security and reviewed recent positive developments in this regard. The leaders agreed to remain in regular touch and looked forward to meeting in-person after the normalisation of the public-health situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
PM Modi tweeted, Had a very pleasant conversation with my good friend @TamimBinHamad. Conveyed greetings for Qatar's forthcoming National Day. Qatar is a vital pillar of India's energy security and a valued source of FDI. We agreed to deepen our cooperation in all areas.
 
As per the statement by PMO, Prime Minister also conveyed his felicitations to Qatar’s Amir for the National Day of Qatar. He added that Qatar is a vital pillar of India's energy security and a valued source of FDI.
 
The move came ahead of an expected visit to Qatar and Kuwait by external affairs minister S Jaishankar and a trip to Oman by the minister of state for external affairs V Muraleedharan.
