Namaste Trump; Demonstrating strong, enduring ties between two largest democracies of the world

New Delhi, February 22: Ahead of the US President's two day visit to India scheduled on February 24-25, the White House on Saturday said that President Trump forthcoming visit to India demonstrates the strong and enduring ties between the two largest democracies of the world. 

 

 

A senior administration official in Washington said that these are ties based on shared democratic traditions, common strategic interests, and enduring bonds between the people of the two countries. "This has been exemplified by the very close relationship between President Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi", he added.

 

 

While the visit is slated to focus on several key areas, observing that India is the fifth-largest econo my in the world with massive energy needs, the US is ready to help New Delhi meet those demands. The Indian government is going all out to welcome the US president in Gujarat, which had earlier hosted China’s Xi Jinping and Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu. Authorities in Ahmedabad are expected to spend around Rs 85 crore on preparing for Trump's visit to the city of about three hours.

 

 

The global strategic partnership between India and the U.S. is based on trust, shared values, mutual respect and understanding, and marked by warmth and friendship between the peoples of the two countries. The relationship has further evolved under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and President Trump, with significant progress in all areas including trade, defence, counter-terrorism, energy, coordination on regional and global issues as well as people-to-people ties.

 

During the 2nd edition of the 2+2 dialogue between India and the US in 2019, the two sides had concluded the crucial Industrial Security Annex. According to the MEA, the visit will provide an opportunity for the two leaders to review progress in bilateral ties and further strengthen our strategic partnership
