On 15 July Swamy had written a letter to the Prime Minister and requested him to initiate a CBI investigation in this SSR's case. Swamy had claimed that his sources have revealed that several bigwigs from the film industry are trying to cover up the case. He wrote: "I learn from my sources in Mumbai that many big names in the Bollywood Film World with links to Dons in Dubai are seeking to ensure a cover-up is carried out by the Police so that voluntary suicide is concluded as the reason for the demise of Mr. Rajput."

Further, he also added, "Since Maharashtra Government has many big wigs to share this view that Mr. Rajput be proved to have committed voluntary suicide, therefore, I am concerned that for public confidence Mumbai Police conducts a perceived impartial investigation. Therefore, I urge you as the Head of the Government of India, and with your known compassion for innocent people who are framed, that you may consider advising the Chief Minister of Maharashtra directly or through the governor to agree on a CBI inquiry."

Swamy also urges people to ask their constituency MPs to pen the same in regard to CBI inquiry for Sushant Singh Rajput's death case saying "all those who want CBI inquiry into the circumstances of SSR’s unnatural death should ask their constituency MPs to write, like me, to PM asking for a CBI inquiry."

Apart from Subramanian Swamy, various celebrities like Kangana Ranaut, Shekhar Suman, BJP MP Roopa Ganguly, among fans of Sushant Singh Rajput, had demanded CBI investigation in the matter

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has rejected the request of CBI inquiry saying, "there was no need to give the case to the CBI. Our police officials are capable and doing the inquiry in the right way. We are also examining the angle of business rivalry."
Sushant was found hanging in his Bandra residence on June 14. Sushant's demise sparked off the hot topic around a lot of things -- from nepotism to the ruthless favoritism that Bollywood power camps allegedly engage in.
