Chandigarh, Sept 22 : Haryana State government has approved the State Teacher Award Policy 2020, which aims at recognizing the hard work and efforts of teachers in the state. Teachers working in Government or Government aided Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools are included as the beneficiaries of this policy. The Department of School Education, Haryana has implemented this policy.

The new policy of 2020 has replaced the older one framed in 2016. The awards will be divided in two categories of A ( Secondary ) and B ( Elementary )which will include Principals, Head Master High School, Post Graduate Teachers and PRTs, Head Teachers, C&Vs, TGTs and ESHMs. Teachers with mentioned teaching experience as on 31 March 2020 will be eligible for the awards. Retired Teaching Staff and Education Administration non teaching staff has been excluded from the beneficiary list. The SCERT Gurgaon may also be asked by the committee to conduct a learning level evaluation of the children who are taught by the shortlisted teachers to decide the deserving candidate for the award.
The selected awardees will be provided incentives worth Rs 21,000, along with a silver medal and a certificate by Haryana State government. The teachers will be awarded on the coming Teachers' Day. The awardees will also be provided with 2 year extension beyond superannuation, up to 60 years and 2 advance increments along with dearness allowance for entire future service period.
A total of 90 awards will be given during the first term of the policy among which 45 will be given to lady teachers and remaining 45 to the male teachers.
