New Delhi, January 25: "National Voters Day is an occasion to appreciate the remarkable contribution of the Election Commission to strengthen the country's democratic fabric and ensure smooth conduct of elections", said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday observing the the National Voters Day.
"National Voters Day is an occasion to appreciate the remarkable contribution of the EC to strengthen our democratic fabric and ensure smooth conduct of elections," Modi tweeted. "This is also a day to spread awareness on the need of ensuring voter registration, particularly among the youth.
The Election Commission of India today will celebrate the 11th National Voters Day with the theme of `Making Our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed`. During the event on Monday, President Ram Nath Kovind will confer the National Awards for the year 2020-21 and launch ECI's Web Radio: 'Hello Voters'. The event will be held at the Ashok Hotel and the President shall grace the occasion virtually from the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

The National Voters’ Day (NVD) is celebrated all over the country on January 25 every year since 2011 with the aim to encourage, facilitate and maximize the enrollment, especially for the new voters. Dedicated to the voters of the country, the Day is utilized to spread awareness among voters for promoting informed participation in the electoral process. This year’s theme is “No voter to be left behind”.
